WELCOME TO TERM 2 ....FRIDAY 3 MAY.....IMPORTANT

Hi All

Welcome back to Term 2. It's been a funny old start but we're now ready to go!!

As you know we need to be off-site on Friday 3 May. We have sent the following notice home today.

ANTARCTIC CENTRE AND ACTION INDOOR SPORT
On Friday 3 May Wai-iti will be heading to The Antarctic Centre in the morning and the Hornby Action Indoor Sport in the afternoon.

We will meet in Wai-iti in the morning no later than 8.45am please. We will take the roll and then walk out to Westholme Street to collect the bus. On our return NO PERSONNEL CAN BE ON THE SCHOOL SITE so the buses will drop us off in Westholme Street and you can collect your child from there at 3.00pm.

Your child will need:
Packed lunch which includes morning tea.
Named drink bottle.
Warm jacket.

All children must be in school uniform.

There is no cost for this trip.

Many thanks
Tracy and Kirsty

WE STILL REQUIRE 3 PARENT HELPERS FOR FRIDAY. IT IS THE WHOLE DAY AND WE'RE SORRY BUT NO PRE-SCHOOLERS.

SCIENCE TERM
This term the focus for Science is The Living World. As our class name means Little or Small Stream we are going to be investigating the local Wai-iti Stream and it's environment.

Reading Roster and Cleaning Tables Roster
We will have a roster outside on the notice board and would really appreciate your help with putting books away and cleaning our tables.
Putting away books can be done from Monday afternoon till Friday
Cleaning tables is Tuesday and Thursday.

Winter Term Clothes and Footwear
On the days that the weather is wet your child can bring slippers to wear inside the classroom.
Please ensure your child has a warm jacket to wear at morning tea and lunchtime as we play outside on fine days even if it's cold.

Tissues
We would really appreciate a box of tissues as the term heads to colder weather.

Many thanks
Tracy and Kirsty

More Completed Projects!

We are loving the creativity that our projects show. Ask your child to describe the detail of their project.

THE DREADED POKEMON CARDS

There have been reports of cards being taken out of peoples bags. To save the agony we have decided that children with pokemon cards at school need a named plastic bag. The teachers will have a box for them to be put in at the start of the day. If the children want them at morning tea or lunch they can collect them from the box. If they don't want them then they will stay safe in the box.
Thanks for your help with this.

Project Making is well under away in Wai-iti

Amazing effort from Ava last week with her sewing project.

Sofia has been designing a very detailed fish tank with a treasure box included.

Louie, Thomas and Jack took on the Block Challenge this week, a lot of problem solving, turn taking and compromise was worked on during this process. Well done boys!!

Here is the sewing group. Last week we were very lucky to have Kirsty's Mum, Anne join us for the afternoon. These children worked with Anne to create sewing masterpieces. Well done Kaia, Thomas, Mia, Brooke and Yahrntaey!

Willa asked Meadow to join her with her Jelly Project. Both girls had lots of fun measuring, stirring and checking the fridge to see when their jelly had set. Yum, yum, well done Willa and Meadow.

HOLY MOLY - IT'S WEEK 10

Welcome to the last week of the term

THANK YOU....THANK YOU
Thank you to all the parents that have helped us over the term put books away or clean tables for us. It's much appreciated help and the good news is you get to do all that community service again next term. (We hope!)

WINTER
It's not winter but it has a real winter feel about it!! On those wet days please send slippers so children can keep their feet warm and if their shoes have got wet they will be dry.

NEWSPAPERS
If you have newspapers at your place we would love them in Wai-iti. The children are really getting into their projects so there is lots of painting going on and newspapers help a little keep the paint at bay.

BIKES AND SCOOTERS
The children love riding their scooters and bikes at school in break times. We are making it a rule that all scooters and bikes (if possible) are put in the stands outside Wai-iti otherwise they prove to be a hazard. If the bike can not fit in the stands please ensure that it is perhaps parked on the garden on the opposite side. All bike riders MUST have a helmet to wear.

HOLIDAYS
We wish you all a wonderful relaxing holiday. Term 2 begins on Monday 29 April.
